Van Buren's Story
Life
I've been married to my wonderful wife Lisa for 28 years now. We met each other in the gym where I workout 4 days a week. We live in Burtonsville, MD and we have 2 dogs and 2 bird. I've retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service. I retired as a Sergeant First Class/E-7. I served a one year combat tour with the 18th Airborne Corps out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. I was an Anti-Armor Infantry Platoon Sergeant. I'm very proud of my service to the country as well as serving with outstanding fellow brother's and sister's in the Armed Forces. We all meet once a year down at Fort Bragg, North Carolina for yearly reunions. I've been all over the world, and experienced different cultures, but I'm very glad to be back here in the states. It would be good to hear from my Blair classmates again. E-mail me and let me know how you're doing.
Also, I'm a graduate of the Montgomery County Police Academy and I'm now a retired Sheriff III for the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department. I'm very happy to have served the people of the U.S.A. while in the U.S. Army, and I served the citizens of Montgomery County for 17 1/2 years retiring January 1, 2022. I was
assigned to the Child Support Section of the department as a Child Support Investigator. I was a Firearms Instructor at the Montgomery County Police Academy. 22 years in the U.S. Army and 17 1/2 years with the Sheriff's Office, the total years in uniform is 39 years in which I am proud to have served!

s a Deputy Sheriff for the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department. I've been a member of the Sheriff's Department for 17 1/2 years and I really enjoy what I did for the residents by serving the citizens of Montgomery County, I'm giving back for all of the opportunities that were presented to me. I've been promoted from Deputy Sheriff II to the new rank of Deputy Sheriff III. I was assigned to the Child Support Section in the Sheriff's Department. I along with my comrades provided security for the judges and other personnel during court proceedings in addition to responding to any emergencies that occur on the streets. Since retiring from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, 2 months later, I was hired as a District Court Bailiff in Rockville. I’ve been a Bailiff now for 2 years. Only former or retired law enforcement officers are hired as Bailiff’s.
Military
What was great about being in the military were the opportunities to travel and see other cultures for yourself. I've been to Germany, the Neatherlands, Thailand, Australia, Central and South America, and Afghanistan. I've been stationed in Germany, Fort Wainwright, Alaska, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Fort Benning, Georgia, Fort Bragg, North Carolina and at Fort Myer, Virginia. Send me an e-mail and let me know how you are doing. Since I'm airborne qualified, I still on occassion do parachute jumps with former and current members of the armed forces down at Fort Benning, GA. Brings back good memories.
Currently I’m a District Court Bailiff at Rockville District Court. I and other retired law enforcement personnel maintain security thru out the District Courts in Silver Spring and in Rockville.
